All Songs for Eurovision 2025
We now have all 37 songs that will be competing in Basel for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
What a competition it is going to be.
Most of my favourite entries all seem to be performing in the first Semi Final, where of course only 10 out of 15 will qualify for the Grand Final. I think it is going to be much tougher than the second Semi Final.
Sweden will be sending KAJ - Bara Bada Bastu. Sweden’s 2015 winner Måns Zelmerlöw had also competed to represent Sweden again, trying to achieve a double-win as Loreen did in 2012 and 2023. Despite being an initial favourite to win Sweden’s national selection process Melodifestivalen, he was beaten by outsiders KAJ and their upbeat comedy song about Finnish saunas. Måns Zelmerlöw didn’t appear to have any sportsmanship or grace after losing, visibly showing his frustration and disappointment while offering no acknowledgement to the winners. There was a huge backlash across the Eurovision community which Måns Zelmerlöw attempted to address and appease, opening his statement with ‘Dear narrow-minded haters’. Needless to say, after 10 years of Måns endlessly appearing in each and every Eurovision as a guest, the time has come for him to quietly move on. Sweden are proving popular with the bookies, as usual. Performing in the first Semi-Final I think they are a guaranteed qualifier and also one to watch out for at the Grand Final.
Norway’s Kyle Alessandro – Fighter is also in the first Semi-Final and a sharply choreographed upbeat pop song. It all feels a little millennium but it’s catchy. I hope Norway qualifies but I think they will be on the cusp.
Another on the cusp at the first Semi Final is Cyprus. Theo Evan – Ssh, another catchy and upbeat pop song showcasing an impressive vocal range. It will all depend how everything comes together on the stage. We are yet to see any previews of any live performances of this so we will wait and see, but here’s hoping the Island of Aphrodite qualify.
In the second Semi-Final we have Australia, one of my favourites this year. Australia are a little hit and miss when it comes to Eurovision – I think they are still finding their feet in understanding what works and what doesn’t. This year, I think they have hit the nail on the head. Go-Jo - Milkshake Man is very tongue-in-cheek and I think will work very well hyping the crowd up in the arena. After failing to qualify last year, I’m confident they will not only qualify but place well in the final this year.
Another tongue-in-cheek entry comes from Malta. Miriana Conte – Serving. This has been causing quite a stir. Formerly called ‘Kant’ the Maltese word for ‘singing’, the EBU ruled the word had to be removed throughout the song and retitled for the competition due to its closeness to swearing. Had the entire song been in Maltese I can’t see it would have been a problem, however as the one and only Maltese word in the entire song it could easily be misunderstood. Eurovision is a family show after all. Malta will be performing in the second Semi Final and is an almost guaranteed qualifier.
Austria will also be in the second Semi Final and is the one to watch this year. JJ- Wasted Love is an operatic entry that somehow evolves into a rave. It is a fan favourite and a strong contender according to the bookies. So long as it translates well on the stage, Austria will do very well.
As all the entrants begin their publicity rounds drumming up interest in their songs, there is sure to be a lot of movement in the odds before the contest. Who do you think are the ones to watch?
