All Songs for Eurovision 2024 Now Released
Today, thanks to Azerbaijan, the final and 37th entry has been released and we now have all the songs that will be battling it out in Malmö for this year’s Eurovision.
It looks set to be a particularly strong year with PLENTY of bangers.
It is certainly not a year of ballads, there seems to be a rave theme with quite a few entries this year. The Netherlands’ Joost Klein – Europapa is a strong dance entry and ends with a heavy 90s-esque rave section. Of course Austria’s Kaleen is raving the whole way to Malmö with her song We Will Rave and also the bookies’ favourite, Croatia’s Baby Lasagna – Rim Tim Tagi Dim has a heavy beat and rave dance break.
What would Eurovision be without some weird and wonderful entries thrown in the mix? Surprisingly, Ireland tops this list with Bambie Thug – Doomsday Blue. This is a very left-field entry for the musical country, and I think it may be more of a performance piece than something that will be listened to on repeat.
Unsurprisingly, Finland also sits on this list. Windows95man and No Rules shows a trouser-less Windows95man emerge from an oversized denim egg. Somehow I don’t think it will match the success of his Cha Cha Cha predecessor.
I’m particularly impressed with Greece’s entry this year Marina Satti – Zari and currently have it played on repeat. It will be interesting to see how it will come together on the stage as the tour-guide music video doesn’t give a lot away but the mix of contemporary and ethnic I think works very well.
Switzerland have a very strong entry with Nemo and The Code. Singing about their experience of being non-binary ‘The Code’ has it all with elements of pop, rap and even a little opera.
Croatia is currently the bookies’ favourite to win Eurovision 2024 and sitting at the top of the Eurovision odds but it can all change as we approach the contest. I think ones to watch will be Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium, all three of these have potential to score highly with the juries which – as we all know – is the only way to win the contest.
Who are your favourites so far? What other countries should we be keeping an eye on? Let me know in the comments below.
